Tech industry join forces to tell the Commission not to limit its proposed TDM exception.

In a letter to the EU Commission, Allied for Startups, BSA | The Software Alliance and DIGITALEUROPE expressed their concern regarding the EU’s approach on text and data mining practices (TDM). According to the signatories, the Commission’s legislative recommendation would introduce a narrow exception to copyright law for nonprofit institutions, inadvertently creating legal uncertainty about TDM and analysis of text and data to which a commercial entity has lawful access.
